So uh, story time! Back when I was like 4, my grandpa's younger sister would always take care of me, as my parents are away and would come back by the weekends. Everytime she leaves (we'll call her Mama Lis), I would always come running just before she reaches the door and cry. Fast forward to present day, Im now exiting teenage years, and unfortunately, she's hit with Alzheimer's disease. My other family members joke to her to guess their names, which I'm fine with, honestly. But, a part of me feels hurt because I'm scared of the fact that she won't remember me anymore, or even remember the times she put me to nap in the afternoons, or she lets me visit her house and listen to the radio. Not only that, she now has grandchildren of her own that she won't even remember, and all those memories she's built up with her friends and family will slowly be erased from her mind... I guess, what I'm trying to say is, to love and cherish every moment that has happened between you and your loved ones, and be grateful that you can still appreciate their company and treasure them...

My Mom and me used to lay by each other to talk. My Mom had Dementia but passed from a bowel perforation. She died at 91. Man, I miss our talks before she had Dementia. It has been 3 years since she died.

Off, that hit me in the feels. I'm going through the exact same thing with my 82 years old mum who has just moved into a care home after I've been her full time home carer for 13 years. She's at Stage 6 Alzheimer's and no longer recognise me but isn't being agitated because she doesn't mind people and still manages a conversation, even though most of it doesn't make any sense. It's heartbreaking, I love my mum but not the disease.

A Parent and Child's bond is really the best and highest in our current human lives, I mean we'd stay the approx same and gen. as our spouses, usually the parents are beating it, I wish you had A really good mum and dad like me , born in 1997, mostly never had their shit together and got married young, but still tried their very very best, clearly can be seen :) I love them now when I'm 27 and they both are 52
